January is on the horizon, and people all around the world are starting to think about what their New Year’s resolutions will be. Why not resolve to improve your driving practices? Here are some New Year’s resolutions for drivers to help you start 2020 with a clean slate.
Keep up with routine maintenance. It can be easy to forget
about your car’s regular oil changes and tire rotations. Life gets busy, and
before you know it, you’re a few thousand miles over your recommended
maintenance timeline. In 2020, though, strive to make sure that your car gets
the care it needs in a timely manner. That will help your vehicle run smoothly
into the next new year.
Be eco-friendlier. Being eco-friendly doesn’t mean
you have to sell your current car and get a hybrid or all-electric model (though
you can definitely do that, too — the Nissan LEAF is a great option). Start by
practicing more efficient driving habits. Stay away from rush-hour traffic,
avoid idling, and accelerate smoothly. This will help reduce your fuel
consumption and benefit the environment.
Plan the trip you’ve always wanted. Is there a dream
route you’ve always wanted to take or a region of Canada you’ve always wanted
to explore? Stop putting off your plans and create a road-trip bucket list to
complete in your Nissan this year.
Whatever you resolve for the new year, our staff here at Avenue Nissan wishes you luck as you pursue your 2020 goals.
Throughout the year, Toronto is filled to the brim with fun
activities to enjoy — and the holiday season is no exception. This year, get
into the holiday spirit with one of these holiday events in Toronto.
Toronto Christmas Market
Get your holiday shopping done early, while enjoying the magic of Christmas at the Toronto Christmas Market. This annual market takes place in the Distillery Historic District, and will be held Nov. 14-Dec. 22. The Christmas Market will be closed on Mondays, but it’s otherwise open every day during this time frame, allowing you to enjoy festive foods — and even meet Santa.
Aurora Winter Festival
There’s nothing quite like holiday light displays during the cold winter months. That’s why the Aurora Winter Festival is such an incredible event. This festival turns Ontario Place into a winter wonderland from Nov. 22 to Jan. 5 with beautiful light displays, an array of amusement rides, a skating rink, and a Christmas market.
Black Creek Pioneer Village Christmas
Time travel back to the Victorian times at the Black Creek Pioneer Village. During the holiday season, this village offers a range of festive activities, allowing you to discover what Christmas was like when Queen Victoria was still around. You can take part in a range of holiday activities and even take a horse-drawn wagon ride. These events will occur throughout December to help you get into the holiday spirit.
Here at Avenue Nissan, we hope you have a fantastic holiday season — and one of the best ways to accomplish that is with a visit to one of these festive events.
Winter is coming, which means it’s time to start getting your car ready for Toronto’s colder weather. These tips will help you get your car winter ready so it continues to run smoothly no matter the temperature.
Change to winter tires. Ice, snow, and freezing rain are all normal winter weather in Toronto. This means the roadways can be difficult to navigate. Battle slick streets with winter tires, which will give you the best traction possible. Just stop in at Avenue Nissan, and we will switch your all-season tires out for your winter ones.
Be ready for anything. You never know when you might
find yourself stranded on the side of the road. Be prepared with an emergency
kit. Make sure your car has tools and items that will help if you find yourself
on the side of the road, including a shovel, a flashlight, a bag of sand,
flares, jumper cables, ice scraper, and warm clothing.
Make sure your battery is in good shape. As the
temperature drops, so does your battery’s efficiency. Check your battery is
working properly and replace it if it’s time for you to get a new one.
Top off your car’s fluids. Make sure your car’s
fluids are all at proper levels, especially your windshield wiper fluid and
your car’s antifreeze.
