Tips for Keeping Your Nissan’s AC Cold This Summer

Now that the weather is warming up, you’ll probably be using your car’s air conditioning system a lot more. Here are some ways to keep your Nissan cold this summer.

Roll the windows down

The best way to cool the interior of your car is to let the hot air out first. Before you start driving, roll the windows down a bit. Drive for a couple of minutes with them down and then turn the air conditioning on to get the cool flow started. Don’t forget to roll up the windows, though!

Check the filter

Much like your car’s oil, air goes through a filter to work properly. This filter is typically located behind the glove box and also blocks odors from entering the cabin. Be sure to have the air filter checked when you visit us at Avenue Nissan to ensure you’re getting clean, cool air.

Don’t forget the fresh air vent

Your car’s air conditioning system has various features — one of which is the “fresh air vent” that allows the air from outside the vehicle to enter the cabin. Using this every so often is great for freshening up the interior. But be sure to turn on the recirculation button when you’re behind a diesel truck to avoid inhaling those fumes.

Nissan Debuts Updated 2023 LEAF

The all-electric Nissan LEAF has been a solid choice for eco-conscious drivers for more than 10 years. This iconic vehicle is getting some upgrades for the 2023 model year, with significant changes to its exterior as well as updates to its interior and safety systems.

Exterior

The new Nissan LEAF arrives with a refreshed grille as well as bumper molding and headlights that have black inner accents. The Nissan badge in the centre of the grille also lights up to further enhance the car’s appeal. Another aesthetic upgrade comes in the form of bold 17-inch aluminum-alloy wheels that are standard. With winter finally winding down, it’s time to remove all of the dirt and grime from your vehicle. Our team at Avenue Nissan put together the following spring cleaning tips for your car.

Start on the exterior

If you plan on washing the outside of your car by yourself (instead of going to an automatic wash), start from the top and work your way down. But before you rinse the whole vehicle, scrub the tires and rims. When it’s time to dry, use a clean microfibre towel so you don’t scratch the paint.

Get rid of trash

Once you move inside, gather any pieces of trash and clutter into a trash bag. Consider finding new homes for non-essential items that have made their way into your vehicle. Don’t forget to look under the seats and floor mats as well as in the trunk.

Interior cleaning

Cleaning the interior should consist of wiping down all surfaces with appropriate materials. If you have leather seats, be sure to use a leather cleaning solution that won’t harm them. Wipe down everything, including the dash, steering wheel, air vents, centre console, gear shifter, and door handles. Don’t forget the inside of the windows, too!

Nissan Plans to Introduce New Electrified Vehicles by 2030

Nissan recently announced Ambition 2030 — its vision of becoming a more sustainable company that provides stylish, efficient vehicles across the globe. As a result, and due to customer demand, Nissan plans to introduce 15 new EVs by 2030.

“We are proud of our long track record of innovation, and of our role in delivering the EV revolution. With our new ambition, we continue to take the lead in accelerating the natural shift to EVs by creating customer pull through an attractive proposition by driving excitement, enabling adoption and creating a cleaner world,” said Nissan COO Ashwani Gupta.

Along with creating new vehicles, Nissan plans on reducing costs for battery production. By introducing cobalt-free technology to its lithium-ion batteries, the brand is estimated to bring the cost down 65% by fiscal year 2028. In addition to that, Nissan will increase mobility options by offering its advanced driver-assistance technologies to more consumers. The goal is to expand ProPILOT™ technology to more than 2.5 million vehicles by fiscal year 2026.

Nissan Announces 2022 Rogue Updates

The Rogue has been a solid part of the Nissan lineup for 15 years. Nissan recently unveiled the third generation of the popular SUV in 2020, featuring a bold new design and exciting features. For 2022, the Nissan Rogue receives even more updates.

Also helping the new Rogue become more fuel efficient is the new generation Xtronic Continuously Variable Transmission with Manual Mode. With a new control valve system and twin oil pump system, the upgraded CVT offers a smoother drive and enhanced fuel economy — as low as 6.7 L/100 km on the highway on certain models.[1]

Winter Tires Are a Must-Have for Toronto Drivers

When it comes to buying winter tires, look for a specific logo that has a mountain with a snowflake inside of it. This symbol indicates that the tires qualify as “winter tires” in Canada, according to Transport Canada. However, be sure that you don’t purchase studded snow tires, as those are illegal to use in Toronto and are only acceptable in Northern Ontario during certain months.

Maintaining winter tires

Just like the standard all-season tires on your vehicle, it’s vital that you maintain winter tires, too. This includes checking the air pressure to ensure that the tires are performing well and are providing optimal traction. You’ll also want to check the tires via the “toonie test” to see if the tread depth is acceptable for safe driving.

Thrilling New Nissan GT-R Special Editions Coming Soon

The Nissan GT-R made its Canadian debut in 2008 and has undergone quite a few changes over the years. One thing that hasn’t changed is how thrilling it is to get behind the wheel of this high-performance vehicle. Nissan has recently announced the arrival of two GT-R special editions: T-spec and NISMO.

GT-R T-spec Edition

The new Nissan GT-R T-spec is available in two luxurious colours, Midnight Purple and the new-for-Canada Millennium Jade. Inside, the cabin is filled with Mori Green semi-aniline leather-appointed seating with pearl suede accents, T-spec badging, and a quilted Alcantara® headliner. In terms of performance, the GT-R T-spec is equipped with a twin-turbo 3.8-litre V6 engine that’s capable of 565 horsepower and 467 lb-ft of torque. An advanced paddle-shifted sequential six-speed DCT is paired to the engine. The T-spec sports the independent rear transaxle all-wheel drive system that can be found on the standard GT-R.

GT-R NISMO

The previously announced GT-R NISMO is even more powerful than the T-spec. Under the hood is a similar twin-turbo 3.8-litre V8. But because this model utilizes a variety of components to dial into maximum turbo power, the engine is rated at 600 horsepower and 481 lb-ft of torque. The NISMO also shows off an exclusive Stealth Gray colour, new 20-inch RAYS® forged aluminum-alloy wheels with red accents, and a clear-coated carbon fibre hood.

Nissan Joins “Race to Zero” Carbon Neutrality Campaign

To help combat the effects of climate change, the “Race to Zero” global campaign was created to get leadership and support from businesses, cities, and investors around the world. Nissan recently announced that it would be joining the campaign — making it the first Japanese automaker to do so.

As a requirement for the campaign, a business must also join the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) to ensure that its carbon reduction targets have been validated and align with the latest climate science. Nissan also signed the Business Ambition for 1.5°C commitment, which aims to keep global temperature rise to 1.5° C above pre-industrial levels.
